Diary of a Carafe

When we first came across luxury glassware brand Bib & Sola (Latin for ‘drink’ and ‘comfort’) we knew we were on to a winner. Launched in 2011, Kira Heuer’s first collection of carafe sets, hand blown by Italian artisans and made from Murano glass, donated a portion of their profits to the ONE Foundation to support the building of water pumps in Malawi.

Growing up in Southern California by the ocean, Kiraʼs relationship with water began at a very early age. From morning surf sessions before school to summers in the sand, water represented recreation and leisure. Years later through a series of articles relating to water shortage and crisis she understood that something she took for granted was in fact a serious issue.

Not being qualified to help on a practical scale, Kira set about instead combining her interest and experience in art, fashion, media and culture to raise money and awareness. Kiraʼs far-reaching charitable work and support of projects focusing on social responsibility further fuelled her creative ambition.

July 2012 sees the launch of Bib & Sola’s second collection, the enigmatically named “Diary of a Carafe”. Crafted from the finest hand-blown Murano glass, Carafes come accompanied by Glass Sets, each bearing a signature statement that skips from classic to quirky and plays upon Bib & Sola’s fundamental brand ethos -the love and appreciation of water. Inspired by the effortless composure of female water bearers across the globe, the collection is both striking and evocative, yet underpinned by a lighthearted tone of humor and irony. 10% of all profits will go to WaterAid, an international NGO dedicated exclusively to the provision of safe domestic water, sanitation and hygiene education to the world’s poorest people.
