My Positive Life | Colleen Harte

Colleen Harte is the CEO and Founder of Lucy Annabella Organics, a luxury cosmetics company hailing from the heart of northern Ireland. Colleen was inspired to create Lucy Annabella Organics when she realised that ‘being organic’ is as much about what we put on our bodies as what we put into them. After travelling the world in 2011, Colleen, who had long been an organic health enthusiast decided it was time to set up her own company that combined her passions with her skills as a Clinical Aromatherapist and Complimentary Therapist.

The philosophy of pure living is incorporated into each Lucy Annabella Organics product. The tranquillity of the Irish countryside, beautiful scenery and clean fresh air that envelops the Lucy Annabella Organics headquarters, is the perfect place for Colleen to develop her fantastic formulas.

One word that describes you?

Visionary.

In your own words, what do you do?

I create and develop aromatherapy based luxury lifestyle products, with organic and eco responsibility being of core importance.  After that I work with great buyers and stores to take Lucy Annabella to our customer as well as working to make our website the best home Lucy could have.

Who is your greatest influence in your career/life?

My husband and my family. Mum and Dad raised my four siblings and I in the family business, so from a very early age, we learnt to appreciate hard work and how to care for our customers but most of all we learned to value family and quality time.  When I met my husband, Ciaran, I was just 18 years old.  His love for family and community, strengthened these values in me even more but he also encouraged me to follow what has now become our dream.

What is your favourite part of your job?

Formulating new blends and seeing my ideas become reality in beautiful packaging but most of all, seeing my customer’s happiness when they talk about Lucy Annabella.  I also adore watching my amazing team working tirelessly to grow Lucy Annabella; I love seeing their creativity coming to fruition.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

Sourcing the best possible ingredient for each product.  Finding passionate farmers who care as much as we do is critical to the development of wonderful organic products.

What is your greatest achievement?

Having my dream become reality with the creation of Lucy Annabella.

What was your Plan B?

I believe in working really hard on plan A.

What is your most prized possession?

My bath, I adore a bath especially on cold autumn nights.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given?

The harder you work the luckier you get.  A wonderful lady called Jo told me this a year ago; a truer word never spoken.

Please complete the sentence… I could not live without…

Essential oils and chocolate.

If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?

Eleanor Roosevelt; I think she would have been an amazing friend.

Sustainability and consumption are two words you will hardly find in the same sentence – which brands do you think are good quality and are doing their bit for people and the planet?

People Tree is an amazing fashion brand who give so much back to the communities where the materials are sourced.  For the same reasons I love Green and Black’s chocolate.

Do you support a charity or cause?

I support the Prince’s Trust.  I love what they are doing for young adults who want to turn their life around.  As for the cause; my cause over the last ten years is to educate women that they have a choice when it comes to their health.  They can choose the healthier option for their skin and bodies with organic and natural products and food.

What’s on your Xmas wish-list?

Avoca’s Silken cashmere throw – perfect for Christmas eve night with a fire and Lucy Annabella’s Winter candle… of course.

What is your personal luxury?

Green & Black’s 90% coco – perfection!

What steps do you take to make your life more positive?

My personal care and beauty routine is based on organic products.  If I cant find a product without harmful chemicals, I do without.  Also I exercise regularly; its great for clearing and settling my mind.
