Butterfly Mark is awarded to IWC Schaffhausen

It is with great pleasure that we announce that IWC Schaffhausen has been awarded with the Butterfly Mark for their outstanding commitment to championing positive initiatives on both a local and global level. These achievements have led to IWC Schaffhausen’s recognition by the Advisory Board of Positive Luxury as a Positive Brand of 2013.

IWC Schaffhausen has brought the same meticulous approach to their positive initiatives as they bring to each individually hand crafted watch. IWC Schaffhausen works to create a diverse, safe and conscientious company environment, investing in employee development and employing modern building technologies to reduce emissions. IWC Schaffhausen is also a proud member of the Responsible Jewellery Council.

The Swiss luxury watch manufacturer has stood out over the years because it not only attempts to have a positive impact within the company itself, but it also strives to make a change within other areas of society. Therefore, IWC Schaffhausen works to create a global network of positive initiatives through supporting various foundations, such as the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation which empowers underprivileged children through sport; the Charles Darwin Foundation which helps to conserve the Galapagos Islands; the Foundation Antoine de Saint-Exupéry for Youth which fights against illiteracy by supporting in cooperation with IWC the construction of a school with a library in Cambodia. Furthermore, IWC Schaffhausen crafts limited edition watches with a portion of the proceeds from their sales going towards supporting the various activities of the foundations in question.

“We are delighted to receive the Mark of Positive Living because we firmly believe that sustainable action, particularly in the luxury watch segment, not only consolidates our brand’s reputation but also its competitiveness” says IWC CEO Georges Kern.

“If we provide our employees with good working conditions, if we care for our partners and the communities in which we live, and if we treat our planet’s limited resources with respect, we will enjoy long-term success as a company. We do everything in our power to ensure sustainable thinking and action, based on the very latest findings, at all levels – from management and employees, all the way through to our suppliers.”

IWC Schaffhausen has completed and excelled the assessment and verification process compiled by the Positive Luxury advisory board including leading experts such as Sir Jonathon Porritt, founder of Forum for the Future; Patrick Laine, CEO of Better Cotton Initiative, and Nigel Salter, co-founder of SalterBaxter.

“It is a privilege to work with IWC on their ongoing positive journey, their commitment to their vision of sustainability delivers a luxury that is integrated, innovative and long lasting,” says Founder and CEO of Positive Luxury, Diana Verde Nieto.
