Glitz and glamour does not begin and end with a show stopping evening gown and towering sculptured heels. Inspired by the lounging attire worn by Coco Chanel in the 1920s, Olivia von Halle designs and creates luxury nightwear with a focus on beautifully cut silk and exclusive prints; an idea that originated from the desire to have, in her own words, something glamorous enough to enjoy a gin and tonic in before sliding off to bed.
Showcasing at a pop up boutique in the lingerie department of Harrods between 28th and 30th November, with a worldwide exclusive of their Tokyo Collection, Olivia von Halle pyjamas are the ultimate luxury for collection.
Having studied Fashion and Textile Management at University before working as a trend forecaster, Olivia von Halle, founder of the brand, describes her design process as ‘backwards’ with the first image that comes in to her head being the final collection campaign. From this one mental image the individual designs are then developed.
But behind the glamour is an emphasis on positive social and environmental actions. Being awarded with the Butterfly Mark in 2013 highlights the positive impact that this nightwear brand has on people and the planet. Sourcing, manufacturing and retailing of the Olivia von Halle garments are all carried out with the absolute best practice in mind to ensure supplier’s social and environmental policies fall in line with that of the label.
All suppliers sign an agreement with the label and undergo a compliance visit by Olivia von Halle herself. By overseeing all production for her brand personally, Olivia is able to guarantee that production of all the exclusive silks used takes place solely in approved factories and to strict chemical standards approved for global use.
With each design season inspired by a different part of the world, the Spring/Summer 2015 collection has been named the Tokyo Collection. The creative inspiration is communicated through the prints used in each design and includes the limited edition ‘Lila Yayoi’ which has been created in collaboration with the world famous department store.
