Monthly Must-Have:
Gabriela Hearst Nina Bag

In our monthly must-have, Positive Luxury selects an iconic item from our #brandstotrust that we’ve been coveting. January’s pick is the Gabriela Hearst Nina Bag – originally created as a gift for the designer’s friends, this bag is now one of the most in-demand pieces amongst fashion-forward trendsetters.

The Nina bag is one of the hottest accessories of the moment. You can’t buy this beauty in-store or online, in fact, the only way to get one is to join a 100+ name waiting list, which can take months to climb. So what’s the story?

The first iteration of this stylish bag was designed by Gabriela Hearst as a sample for herself. The Uruguayan-born, New York-based designer then made twenty versions to give to some of her friends – including actress Brie Larson and street style star Miroslava Duma, who is rarely spotted these days without a Nina in her hand.

Yet it’s not just the celebrity factor and exclusive demand that makes this bag desirable. We love the unique folded shape – inspired by the work of artist Fernando Botero. The stiff rounded handle is just the perfect length to swing neatly from your hand, while the fold-over closure keeps your belongings secure.

Available in soft calf-skin or responsibly-sourced crocodile, its rose-gold hardware detailing completes the luxurious finish. Did we mention that there is also a mini version called the “Demi”?

Congratulations to Gabriela Hearst for winning the International Woolmark Prize 2016/2017. Click the Butterfly Mark to see the Positive Actions Gabriela Hearst takes as a sustainable brand:
