Supporting Women and Girls

Despite vast change over the past century, women are still battling for gender equality and equal rights across the globe. To mark International Women’s Day this week, we’re highlighting some of our favourite brands that are striving to make a difference to the lives of women and girls around the world.

 

Beulah London

British fashion label Beulah London uses its beautiful womenswear collections to give back, raising awareness and money for women affected by human slavery.  

As part of its charitable foundation, The Beulah Trust, the brand partners with charities and businesses in Kolkata to offer employment to transform the lives of trafficked or vulnerable women.

Its most recent collection includes silks that were hand screen printed by women who have escaped trafficking and violence.  While 10% of the profits from Beulah’s Blue Heart collection is donated to the UN Blue Heart Campaign.

Lonely

New Zealand lingerie brand Lonely aims to celebrate the strength and individuality of women through contemporary lingerie that is comfortable yet fashion-forward.

The brand has made waves in the media by choosing real women to showcase their collections breaking down conventional beauty standards. The Lonely Girls Project features a range of body types, including well-known body positivity advocate Lena Dunham, to foster a spirit of confidence and empowerment.

Age of Reason Studios

Empowering and supporting women comes naturally to Ali Mapletoft, the founder and designer behind Age of Reason Studios. Built on principles of transparent and ethical production, the name is drawn from the 18th century era of Enlightenment when ideas of feminism, anti-slavery and human equality first began to thrive.

This March, Age of Reason Studios is launching limited-edition silk knickers to raise money for Ovarian Cancer Awareness month. For every pair sold, a £5 donation will be made to the Eve Appeal, a charity raising awareness and funding research for gynaecological cancers.

 

 

Rallier

Rallier aims to dress the women of the world in uniform. Its contemporary designs reinterpret classic cuts and materials into ‘modern uniform dressing’. While the brand also donates school uniforms to girls living in areas plagued by gender equality.

For each Rallier dress sold, the brand donates to its partner charity Shining Hope for Communities, which provides school uniform dresses to ensure girls can attend school and transform their lives through education.

Only Fingers and Toes

Philanthropy is strongly rooted in to the work of brand to trust Only Fingers and Toes. The nail lacquer brand cleverly partners with grassroots organisations that enable it to share its love of beauty and nail colour, while empowering and supporting young women.  

Only Fingers and Toes works with both The Shine Nail Bar in Leeds and Dollis Dolls nail bar in London to help local girls gain confidence through professional skills and a positive atmosphere. In addition, it supports The Polished Girlz, a non-profit organisation that offers nail art to girls who are in hospital, while also promoting the importance of hand-washing to reduce infection.
