Beauty focus:
Oils to nourish the skin

Oils are a beauty shelf saviour. Rich and soothing, yet allowing your skin to heal and breathe.

Many oil products are multi-purpose, doing good for your hair, skin and nails – making them easy to incorporate into your beauty routine. It might seem counter-intuitive, but using oil can also help re-balance and regulate oily skin, which often gets stripped of the moisture it needs by harsh oil-free products.

A few drops of essential oil in the bath – try sandalwood or lavender – can instantly elevate bathtime into a more luxurious experience. Or for super-dry skin, try layering a facial oil under your evening moisturiser to lock in hydration overnight.

Here’s our top three #brandstotrust to add to your wishlist. We’ve researched and approved these brands to ensure they’re doing as much for the environment as they are for your beauty routine.

AEOS

Brit beauty brand Aeos uses its own home-grown biodynamic flax oil in its products. Flax is one of the richest vegan sources of omega-3 essential fatty acids, and the brand laces its spelt hand cream with generous amounts of organic, cold-pressed flax oil to plump and nourish chapped winter hands. Keep some by your bed to apply at night for silky-soft hands in the morning.

Alexandra Soveral

Alexandra Soveral’s Midnight Oil contains palmarosa (a lemongrass relative) and rose geranium to help balance skin that flip-flops between oily and dry. Lemon and fennel help the skin to decongest, whilst stimulating cell renewal to both refresh and hydrate. Ideal for hydrating overnight, so you can wake up to glowy, rested skin (even if you have been overdoing it on the Christmas parties).

Weleda

Almost a century old, natural beauty brand Weleda’s Wild Rose Body Oil is perfect for smoothing and relaxing tired winter limbs. Calendula and chamomile, both gentle, non-irritating plants, are carried in a silky layer of sunflower oil. Try massaging in after a bath or shower as they work best on warm, damp skin. It takes a little longer than quickly smoothing on some body cream, but the skin-toning and hydrating effects go deeper and last much longer.
