Vivien Bass: How To Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle On the Go

Fitness On The Go

Fitness and wellness blogger, Vivien Bass, is an inspiration. Born in Italy, she’s lived in many countries, travelled the world, and continues to seek out positive experiences in luxury destinations – all while maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. Positive Luxury caught up with Vivien to learn her top travel tips, and how we can use her mantra ‘Travel and Train’ as inspiration for a healthy lifestyle in the year ahead.

Can you tell us about what inspired you to blog about your positive, healthy lifestyle and eco-friendly travelling?

My goal is to wake people up, showing them the extra value that life can have if you book more authentic accommodation, eat at healthier and family-owned local businesses, visit local farms, and speak to local people. I hand-pick all my destinations, hotels and experiences based on their attention towards active life, organic food, territorial enhancement – with a touch of (eco) luxury.

What daily changes have to made to your routine to maintain balance, both physically and mentally?

A few years ago I read and studied a lot about nutrition, so even though my parents had taught me to eat clean, I made some more changes, choosing certain products over others. The most amazing experience was to sleep inside a cave; that was truly a once-in-a-lifetime feeling, and definitely broke my routine!

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle on the move can be challenging – what are your top tips for enjoying travelling, while staying fit and healthy?

First of all, it’s important to lead a fit and healthy life in all aspects, all year round. It all starts with what you eat, and nutrition must be balanced with exercise. When exploring a destination with no particular focus on wellness, I like to go for morning runs if I’m near the sea, trekking if I’m next to mountains, and do some basic calisthenics and floor routines either in my room, in a park, or in the hotel’s gym. You can do simple exercises like squats, push ups, crunches, and lunges anywhere and you don’t need any equipment.

What are the positive luxuries you couldn’t live without?

I can’t live (or travel) without my dry brush and my organic face and body lotions; I have an ultra sensitive and dry skin which can only tolerate specific products. My favourite Positive Luxury brands to trust are Weleda, Cerimani, Artha, Umran Aysan, and No Ka’Oi – to name a few.
